Text Box: Text Box: RULING ELDER OF THE TENNESSEE DISTRICT PASTOR: Elder Alonzo L. Rodgers   Elder Alonzo L. Rodgers pastor of Greater Mount Moriah and Antioch Fire Baptized Holiness Churches in Knoxville and Ruling Elder of the Tennessee District is a native of Wilmington, North Carolina born to the Late Mrs. Ruth Ann Witherspoon Rogers, and Reverend Alton Mackcell Rogers, who were charitable benefactors in their church and their community, and to whom their son credit for his own integrity, discipline, and self reliance. Saved at the age of eight he has given himself to the service of the Lord with love, diligence and loyalty. Following his father in ministry assisting when and wherever he could he was exposed to much helpful knowledge of the function, operation and purpose of the Body of Christ. This mentorship at an early age allowed him access to the observation of great men and women of God who were very influential in the nurturing of his spiritual development. Further development includes studies at Wilmington Bible College, Shaw School of Divinity, Johnson Bible College, Southern Baptist Seminaries and Pellissippi State College. His love for the people and the work of God has inspired his search for God to use him extensively. His singing and musical abilities was motivated by the talents of his family and most particularly Janie Mae Rogers Murrill, his cousin and mother of “The Murrills”. His own call to preach was acknowledged in March of 1982 at Holy Bethel FBH Church Thomasboro, NC under the pastorate of his father. His first revival was at New Bethlehem FBH Church in Charlotte, NC under Rev. J. R. Caldwell. His pastoral experience began in August 1983 after the death of his father when he was assigned as pastor of Holy Bethel and further includes Greater Mount Zion Charlotte, NC and his present pastorate at Greater Mount Moriah where he is now serving his twentieth year and Antioch for his third year of service combined with the oversight of the Tennessee district as Ruling Elder since November, 1990. Both of these churches and the district have experienced much growth and have seen the divine move of God under his leadership. Through his ministry hundreds of souls have been saved, healed and delivered, churches have been blessed with growth and development under his guidance. His vision has also includes planning and overseeing the building of structures for the service of ministry. Evangelism is in the center of his heart along with an immeasurable passion to see God’s people obtain God’s purpose for their lives. This has carried this servant of God to many people, churches and places to give the message of God’s infallible word. During these years Pastor Alonzo L. Rodgers has uncompromising and bold teaching of God's word has changed the lives of many people that have ever attended a service at Greater Mount Moriah or wherever he has traveled to spread the gospel.  Pastor Alonzo Rodgers is known for his dynamic preaching, practical teaching styles, and bringing God's Word to life through sometimes intense, and always relevant sermons, and dramatic illustrated sermons. He communicates the message of Christ with sincerity while bringing it down to concrete realities.
